Time stealers

Time stealers are those distractions keeping you from completing tasks, or what you set your mind to achieve, it delays you, makes you procrastinate. Do you ever stop to think of how we all have the same number of hours, yet some people achieve their goals within a short space of time, while some cannot, even if they are granted 50hours in a day?

These all boil down to managing your time effectively, planning and getting rid of time stealers. Some things that can steal our time are friends, activities and habits, so instead of utilizing our time on meaningful things, we will rather spend it on these time stealers unknowingly.  We all have enough time, if only we can plan, and learn to manage it well.

For me, the first thing I do when I wake up is, spend my time checking my whatsapp messages, I spend my precious time replying these messages, I will then move over to facebook, get carried away by my timeline, move over to messenger, reply my friends....all these time, ignoring the most important things I'm supposed to do that morning. I know most people do this too, replying messages at the beep of it, we spend a lot of time on social media, like our life depends on it.

People, friends are also time stealers, you are chatting with a friend, you forget your activities for the day, you are carried away by your discussion, thereby robbing yourself of the most important things that needs to be get done.

Procrastination is another time stealer, sometimes, you have a big task ahead, it overwhelms you, you decide to put it off for sometime, you keep postponing, and waste your time on less important things. There are just so many instances, but one day, we realise we need to grow up, and begin to get things done.

So, having said all these, we need to make proper use of time management strategies, and plan well, we need to set goals, make these goals our priorities. If it's so difficult, you can keep a diary, list out all the things you need to do for the day accordingly, and probably write down how you spent your day too, you may be proud of yourself, or ashamed, I pray you are proud though.

You may also need to turn off your notifications, if you are the type that reply your messages instantly, or turn off your data, if you are not in dire need of it.

Set out days to meet with friends, delegate less important duties to others, and attend to the ones needing your attention.  While you are at it, do not forget that successful people use their time well, if not, they will lose track, and don't forget the popular saying that time is money.
